Katie has said her split from Tom has impacted her parenting philosophy in the sense she’s no longer afraid of failure. Katie said she’s tried to teach Suri that philosophy with things like arts and crafts projects that may not go as planned.
“At least you tried. I think, ‘Oh, I’m a great mom’ and then it doesn’t pan out the way I think it’s going to . . . But the intention’s there.”
Suri’s had to trade in her $600 Jimmy Choo shoes and adjust to a more modest lifestyle since her parents’ split (keep in mind, it’s all relative!) Now that she’s a student at Avenues school (an elite prep school), Suri has to wear a uniform. Katie’s happy about that, according to an insider.

It can’t be easy for Suri, but I’m sure she’ll adjust in time.
First we heard Suri Cruise was adjusting well to her parents’ split, but now the story is that Suri’s having a hard time adjusting to Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes’ divorce.
