Divorce is life-changing, especially if kids are involved. Learning how to co-parent with someone you’ve decided you do NOT want to spend the rest of your life with isn’t easy. ‘Twilight’ star Peter Facinelli is learning all about co-parenting. He talked to People about it.

“When you’re going through it yourself, you have to take it day by day. I take the girls RV-ing all the time. There’s a lot of s’mores-making and singing by the campfire. It’s something about being in the woods. It slows everything down and you’re a part of nature and just spending time with your family. It’s pretty great. They bring out my sensitive side and I toughen them up a little bit.

“Co-parenting takes two great parents to put their differences aside and focus on the children, and that’s what I’ve been doing.”

Peter seems to be a pretty involved dad: good for him! For some fathers, it just seems easier to avoid the discomfort of dealing with their ex-wives and just see less of their kids. Then everybody loses.
