Ok, I’ll be hones there: I’ve only watched a few episodes of “Downtown Abbey” and while I’ll admit that it’s pretty engaging, I just haven’t had the time to sit down and watch the entire season yet, although I know plenty of people who have done so in only a matter of hours! Hopefully with the holidays coming up, I’ll be able to take a bit of a break and finally catch up with all of my shows.

One of the stars of the show, Dan Stevens, who plays Matthew Crawley, recently opened up in a new interview with Town & Country Magazine, where he talked about how he first loves the script for Abbey, his character, and of course his future film projects. Here are some highlights of what he says:

Stevens on liking the Downton Abbey script right away:

“It had tongue and cheek nods to modernity, which I enjoyed.”

Stevens on his career trajectory:

“Quite surreal and probably quite offensive.”

On his upcoming role in the film Summer in February, and being cast as “the good guy,” like his character in Downton: “A woman marries the wrong guy.  And I’m the right guy.  Of course I am!”

Stevens on his approach to the character of Morris Townsend, whom he plays in The Heiress:

“You can be romantically interested in someone and love them and still, I think, be really interested in things and a certain lifestyle that person might provide.”

Downton Creator Julian Fellowes on hiring Dan:

“We were looking for a young man who was handsome, of course, but who conveyed a real sense of uprightness.  Not an antihero but a real hero – someone who, at the same time, seemed strong and rigorous and interesting.  Dan seemed to possess all these qualities.  He is able to make a kind of niceness sympathetic in a way that harks back to an earlier tradition: Jack Hawkins or Kenneth More or Gary Cooper or Cary Grant.”

It looks like it was a family night for this Hollywood couple! Former Spice Girl Victoria Beckham took all of her boys out for the night, including husband David and her sons Brooklyn, Romeo, and Cruz, for the premiere of “Viva Forever” musical at Piccadilly Theatre in London, England on Tuesday evening.

The fashionista posed with her family on the red carpet, but opted not to take any quick pics with her former Spice Girl bandmates, including Melanie Brown, Geri Halliwell, Emma Bunton, and Melanie Chislom, who were also all on hand for the VIP party. We don’t see much of Cher these days! Here she is catching a flight out of LAX. Cher looks like she’s doing well these days. She hasn’t lost her flair for the dramatic, that’s for sure.
