Angelina Jolie may or may not be busy planning a wedding, and she may or may not have a retirement plan in the works, but she isn’t neglecting her career. Angelina is in final negotiations to step behind the camera again to direct ‘Unbroken.’ It’s the story of Louis Zamperini, who went from being an Olympic athlete to a POW during World War II. Deadline reports Angelina “campaigned hard” to get the directing gig over others who were interested. Studio execs said:

“In her life and in her work, Angelina has embraced stories and causes involving great struggle and triumph over tremendous odds and the basic human condition. She has a real ability to illustrate the strength in human spirit which will be essential in telling Lou’s story of survival and great heroism.”

The movie is based on the biography ‘Unbroken: A World War II Story of survival, Resilience, and Redemption.’ which was written by Laura Hillenbrand. Angelina herself said:

“I read Laura Hillenbrand’s brilliant book, and I was so moved by Louie Zamperini’s heroic story, I immediately began to fight for the opportunity to make this film. Louie is a true hero and a man of immense humanity, faith and courage. I am deeply honored to have the chance to tell his inspiring story.”

Lindsay Lohan says she wants to get help but can’t afford it with her current financial problems. Lindsay reportedly realizes she has hit rock bottom. A source said:

“Lindsay is overwhelmed at the prospect of going back to jail and believes that a psychiatrist can help her through this trying time of her life. However, Lindsay has a huge problem, she can’t afford to pay a good shrink because she literally has no money. Her health insurance would only pay about 20 percent of the mental health bills, and the docs that she wants to see charge $250-$300 an hour.”

“Prosecutors are going after Lindsay with a vengeance because of her flagrant disregard for the law. The LA City Attorney’s office will present evidence to Commissioner Jane Godfrey that Lindsay has a long storied history of lying to cops. Prosecutors want Commissioner Godfrey to sentence Lindsay to 245 days behind bars for the probation violation.”

Tom Cruise seems to be taking the steps to move on from Katie Holmes after she reportedly blindsided him with her divorce filing. The ‘All You Need is a Kill’ star is said to be dating Jennifer Akerman. And yes, Jennifer is the sister of Malin Akerman. Malin and Tom know each other from shooting ‘Rock of Ages’ together. A source told The Sun the two met up at the Swedish premiere of ‘Jack Reacher.’

“They already knew of each other from Malin being in ‘Rock Of Ages’ so they didn’t need much of an introduction. Even though Tom was working the room, once they got chatting they were locked in. They seemed very natural in each other’s company for most of the night and at the afterparty at the Rose club. Then all of a sudden they were gone… “

Tom had to fly to New York to continue promoting ‘Jack Reacher’ while Jennifer had to fly to London. However, Jennifer reportedly has a place in LA close to Malin, so meeting up with Tom in the States won’t be a problem. They already have plans to do so, according to this source. And Tom will need to make some time to slow down: he hurt his foot while shooting ‘All You Need is a Kill.’ Tom explained the injury:

“There’s a scene where I’m kicking a guy in the balls, the testicles. It was a human being, [but] no testicles were injured in the making of the film! We had to do the take over and over again, and the first 10 times it was like, ‘Yeah!’ After about 50 times in, my foot was swelling … I kept having to loosen my shoe.”

OUCH. The hazards of being an action star- LOL.

Kristen Stewart is still trying to make amends for the affair that not only seriously threatened her relationship with Robert Pattinson but rocked the ‘Twilight‘ fandom to its core. I would’ve thought her and Robert’s reconciliation was enough, but Kristen is still addressing the issue. She apologized to the fans in a Newsweek interview.

“It’s not a terrible thing if you’re either loved or hated. But honestly, I don’t care ’cause it doesn’t keep me from doing my s*it. And I apologize to everyone for making them so angry. It was not my intention.”

I appreciate Kristen’s attempt to make amends, but it seems like it could be done with a little more grace. Obviously she cares, or she wouldn’t still be talking about it. If you’re going to apologize, then apologize. If you don’t feel you owe the public an apology (and honestly, I don’t think she does: Robert and Liberty Ross were the two who deserved an apology, and she’s done that), then don’t do it. But don’t speak out of both sides of your mouth!

Then again, I can’t even imagine the scrutiny and pressure Kristen’s under. I’m surprised she hasn’t just disappeared from public view like Robert until she heads back to a set again. Oy vey, now I’m talking out of both sides of my mouth! Talking about it just keeps the scandal alive, don’t you think? Kristen needs to just move on.

Katie Holmes had a birthday yesterday: she turned 34! If you guessed a bakery, then you guessed right! Katie’s love of sweets, including cupcakes, cookies, and ice cream, is well-known, so it’s not surprising that’s where she’d want to celebrate her birthday. Katie stopped by the Sugar and Plumm bakery with Suri and one of Suri’s friends. The trio ordered silver dollar pancakes and Eggs Benedict. A source said:

“When the staff brought the cake out with a sparkler, Suri and her friend sang ‘Happy Birthday,’ and the two girls helped the pastry chef cut the cake and plate it.”

Awww… that’s so sweet! Then Kate and Suri visited the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Sounds like a great Katie had a great birthday. These pictures are of Katie leaving another of her favorite bakeries, Magnolia Bakery.
