Food Network star Paula Deen is known for her southern dishes. They exemplify southern cooking- sticks of butter and deep frying and all. Paula took some heat when she revealed she’d been diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes (as part of her deal to promote a diabetes medication), but now she’s dishing on how she lost 36 pounds and keeping the weight off.
“It’s all about moderation. I just needed to learn to eat a normal portion size and not overindulge.”
It sounds SO easy- LOL. Honestly, you only have to watch Paula add those sticks of butter when she’s cooking to know you can NOT eat that way every day! The Food Network star said she does still indulge in her fried chicken and grandmother’s pound cake.
“It’s amazing how little changes will give you big results.”
Which is why Paula refuses to go fat-free. She prefers other techniques, like eating more slowly.
“In my refrigerator, there’s no light mayonnaise. I’d rather eat less of the real thing and have it taste really good than have diet stuff that tastes awful. Putting my fork down and having a conversation has been a huge help. Because it takes 20 minutes for your stomach to tell your brain that you’re full.”
