  Britney Spears To Open VMAs – Confirmed!

  After weeks of mind-blowing media speculation, MTV confirms today that Britney Spears will be opening the 2007 MTV Video Music Awards. Celebrating her long awaited comeback to her fans, Spears will be performing LIVE her new song “Gimme More” from her highly anticipated new album due on November 13th. The star studded awards show will air live Sunday, September 9th at 9PM Live ET/Tape delayed PT.
  Immediately following Spears’ performance, fans who want more of the superstar can download two ringtones available exclusively through MTV Mobile for two days prior to any other service. The tones — one for “Gimme More” and the other featuring the much discussed “It’s Britney, B****” catch phrase from “Gimme More’s” intro — are available for fans who text “Gimme” or “Brit” to 33633. MTV Mobile also will carry a live simulcast of the show, a first ever for an awards show.
  For more about Spears at the VMAs, MTV.com will have exclusive details about her performance, as well as a look back at her history at the VMAs. The star-packed event will also feature one night only performances by Kanye West, Fall Out Boy, Chris Brown, Foo Fighters, Rihanna, Common, Nelly Furtado, Gym Class Heroes, Akon and Soulja Boy, T-Pain, Cee-Lo, Daniel Merriweather, Lil’ Wayne, Alicia Keys, T.I., Adam Levine, Mastadon, and Serj from System of A Down. Diddy, Sarah Silverman, Seth Rogen, Bill Hader, Kid Rock Jamie Foxx, Jennifer Garner, Pamela Anderson, the cast of Entourage, Shia Labeouf, Nicole Scherzinger, Robin Thicke, Megan Fox, Jennifer Hudson, Rosario Dawson and Eve are set to present at the “2007 MTV Video Music Awards.” In addition, Justin Timberlake with Timbaland are set to host a Fantasy Suite party, while critically acclaimed producer, artist and DJ Mark Ronson will rock the party in The Pearl with help from his turntables, horn section and surprise guests. This year, Timbaland will also find himself working overtime as the official Maestro of the VMAs, responsible for creating several show-stopping and unexpected artist collaborations.

  Britney Spears To Perform With Justin Timerlake At MTV Video Awards

  Well, if she had her way she would that is. Britney Spears was planning to get on stage with none other than Justin Timberlake in order to shock the heck out of MTV’s video award show audience. I would have most certainly choked on whatever I was eating if I saw that. Justin’s reps say this story is false. Actually, their exact words were “patently false”.
  So her next shock technique was going to display photos of Kevin Federline and Justin behind her as she sang My Preogative. But her team axed that idea as well.
  

  “She’s planning it to be a big comeback performance and she wants it to be shocking.’ Britney is, however, said to have axed plans to sing “My Prerogative’ along with a medley of her greatest hits, as images of ex-lovers Justin Timberlake, 26, and Kevin Federline, 29, and scandalous gossip about her flashed on a screen during her performance.

  So we get she is going to do something crazy. What could she POSSIBLY do to outshine what she does on a day to day basis??? I mean REALLY!
  In other news, Ne-Yo told Ryan Seacrest her upcoming album is upbeat.
  

  “Her new music is definitely up-tempo. She’s got to remind people why they love her in the first place. She’s got to get their minds off her personal life and back on the music. I have no idea what’s going on with Britney Spears right now. The last thing I heard is she was mad at me over some songs that were supposed to go to her.
  “I wrote six to eight songs for Britney Spears, working really closely with her people. Then she goes and shaves her head and goes into rehab – and when that happened I lost all contact with her and the people at her label. I think it’s possible she can make a comeback. I heard a lot of the music. I definitely think she can do it.’

  Britney Spears Was Supposed To Record “Umbrella…ella…ella..eh?”

  I wonder how differently Umbrella would have sounded if Britney Spears opted in on it. The track was originally created for Brit Brit but her people never called back American music producer Tricky Stewart. So when Rihanna’s people came a knockin’, he gave it to them instead.
  

  He made the revelation to British singer/songwriter Taio Cruz. Cruz says, “I was working with Tricky in his studio the day he finished Umbrella. As soon as I heard it I said, ‘That is a smash, I have to have it,’ but he told me it was on hold for Britney.
  “He waited but Britney’s people never called him back.”
  Rihanna turned the song into a huge hit, holding the number one spot in the U.K. chart for a staggering 10 weeks.

  Get Ready For Britney Spears’ Comeback!

  It is being reported that Britney Spears may release her new single as soon as next week! The single, according to one source is called, “Gimme More”, and is being produced by Nate ”Danjahandz” Hills. A source who has heard the up-tempo club track says,
  

  ”People are going to love [the new single]. ”It’s like when Justin came back [with FutureSex/LoveSounds] – ” she’s got a whole new sound. She’s funky.”

  The video we also saw her shooting awhile ago was apparently called “Gimme More”. I honestly hope the single is as good as it sounds, we need some positive Britney news!

  Britney Smiles Through Her Legal Troubles

  
  Despite a somber looking black dress, and the fact that Child services is investigating her for child abuse, Britney Spears was smiling and looking pretty happy as she went grocery shopping at Ralph’s. According to TMZ, the child abuse case does not involve physical abuse.
  

  Sources tell TMZ the L.A. County Department of Children and Family Services “abuse investigation” into Britney Spears does not involve physical mistreatment of her children. Sources say the complaint lodged with DCFS involves allegations of poor dental hygiene, as well as poor eating and sleeping habits for her kids.

  We’ve heard of her trying to whiten her kid’s teeth awhile back. Could there be some truth to what the magazines say after all?

  Britney Spears Investigated For Child Abuse

  
  Britney Spears kept her engagement ring on while she visited a tanning salon late last night. It’s a beautiful ring… but I thought it was over between them?? I guess when you spend that much money on a piece of jewelry, you don’t want to give it up.
  In more important news, Britney is getting investigated for child abuse. I wonder who made that anonymous phone call.
  

  An unscheduled hearing was held today at L.A. County Superior Court. Present — Britney’s lawyer, Dennis Wasser, K-Fed’s attorney, Mark Vincent Kaplan and a lawyer from the Los Angeles County Counsel who is assigned to the dependency court.
  We do not know the specifics of the allegations but we’re told the L.A. County Department of Children and Family Services is conducting an active investigation.

  Britney Spears Pulled Over By Cops For Speeding

  
  
  How many cops does it take to pull over Britney Spears?? Britney, with a crew of friends in the car, were stopped by cops for speeding on friday night in Hollywood. Britney actually looks kind of scared, but considering the fact that she drove for about a mile before she actually complied with the cops, I would say that she wasn’t. Thanks to the Hollywood standard, she got off with just a warning!
  Here are some details from Splash:
  

  Popstar Britney Spears got more than she bargained for after she was spied by the law speeding on her way to Las Vegas, presumably to meet up with boyfriend Chris Angel. The Los Angeles Highway patrol officer quickly accelerated up behind her in the fast lane and put on his lights. Britney, to everyones amazement, just casually continued on her way and it took her close to one mile to finally pull over and exit the freeway, where she pulled into a petrol station to see another squad car waiting and ready to intercept her.
  As she stopped the officers took up defensive positions with hands on their guns and torches raised whilst one slowly approached the car and identification was requested. This is normal operating procedure but funny considering the torch held by the female officer was squarely illuminating the face of one of the most famous popstars in the world. After a quick talking to, the female officer finally realised who Britney was. Britney pleaded innocence and used the old ‘paparazzi were chasing me’ line. Unbelievably, she was just given a warning and sent on her way. In fact, the sternest words of the whole incident were from one of the officers towards the ever present media.   We all knew the day would come when Britney Spears would crack under the pressure of the paparazzi. Reports are claiming that our pop princess is moving to London. She thinks she will find more peace and quiet over there. Yeah Britney – just like David and Victoria found over here. The best part of the story you ask? Brit Brit already has the beginnings of an English accent (cough cough MADONNA).
  

  According to a US newspaper she has set her heart on fleeing to Britain, and is even developing an English accent.
  A friend said: “She thinks her only hope is to move to London for a fresh start. “She is so scared about losing her boys that her mind is racing trying to think of how to keep them. “Britney thinks she can arrive in London and blend in with the locals. But she doesn’t have a clue how to write a cheque.”

  Britney Spears Tells Kids They Were Both Mistakes

  
  
  I’ve said some mean things in my time. But telling my children they were mistakes was not one of them. CAN YOU IMAGINE? Kevin Federline claims he has three sworn affidavits from Britney’s old employees that show her in a very negative light. One person has even stated that she heard the pop star tell her children they were both mistakes.
  

  What those affidavits allegedly reveal about Britney and how she treats Sean Preston, 23 months, and Jayden James, 11 months – ” including ranting “You were both mistakes!” at the tots – ” are shocking and disturbing, the source adds. And they could prove to be the straw that shifts custody to Kevin! According to the source, the former nanny claimed that Britney “gives the kids soda sand coffee with cream and sugar.

  As if that wasn’t bad enough, the source is claiming that she lets her children sit in soiled diapers until someone else comes around to change them.
  

  She also lets them sit in soiled diapers for hours until someone else changes them. And she keeps both children up late at night to ensure they sleep late – ” this includes waking them up if they fall asleep before 11 pm. Plus, Britney doesn’t personally feed the kids – ” the nanny or bodyguard does.” But that’s not the worst of it. “When Britney is upset, she yells and screams at the boys and once told them, “You were both mistakes!’ She’s called them “burdens, a pain in the a%$ and the reason [your] father left,’” says the source.

  Oh wait… there is more. Kevin feels that she’s been “promiscuous in front of the kids”.
  

  “Kevin was even told in so many words that Britney was pregnant a few weeks back,” says the second source. “He had a meltdown over this. Kevin feels the people around Britney are looking the other way. Now he’s determined to have them hauled into court to answer to a judge about Britney’s actions involving his kids.” The nanny swears Britney has men over to her house in Beverly Hills all the time, and she introduces them to the boys as their uncles,” says the first source, adding, “Britney does carry on with men in front of the boys, kissing and hugging. She runs around half-naked in front of her kids with the men she has over.”

  I’m beginning to think that Kevin might have a case here. This all sounds like damaging evidence. It may or may not be true. But how can Britney defend herself?

  Britney Spears Tells Allure “Nothing – And Everything”

  The cover for Allure’s September 2007 issue with Britney Spears on the cover is out! Britney did the photoshoot with Allure but missed 4 scheduled interviews with the magazine, hence the title, “Britney Spears tells us nothing – and everything”.
  I’m loving that title and I must say, Britney actually looks amazing on this cover! Too bad she didn’t get the interview though. The editor in chief of Allure, Linda Wells, had said:
  

  “I thought we could present the profile as her comeback. Perhaps Britney’s story would be redemptive, like those of Angelina Jolie, Drew Barrymore and Mariah Carey before her.”

  Someone Is Finally Sticking Up For Britney Spears!

  A man named “Jeff” has spoken exclusively to X17 about Britney Spears’ latest troubles. The man, who is not Jeff Kwatinetz who is rumored to be Britney’s new manager, but rather a close friend, has come to Britney’s defense amidst her recent behavior defending her and claiming the press spins the stories on Britney making her look bad. He discusses everything from drugs, why she shaved her head, the custody battle with Kevin, to her family and love life. Check out some of what he has to say below:
  On Britney and drugs:
  

  “Britney does NOT do drugs!,” says “Jeff” who tells us he’s strictly against any type of drug use and against anyone involved in any type of drug use. She might enjoy a drink or two when she goes out but that’s it. And the lollipops? — “They’re Tootsie Roll pops, not suckers laced with drugs or whatever Kevin’s camp is claiming — I’ve never even heard of that!” She doesn’t even go out on nights when she has the kids and she becomes very sad immediately after they leave. Her world revolves around her children — 98% of her energy is spent on her children and at this point her career takes a distant second.

  The reason Britney infamously shaved her head:
  

  Kevin taunted Britney that even his smoking of marijuana in her presence (Jeff showed us a pic of Kevin on his phone of Kev with a joint in his hands, partying with his friends) would leave traces of the drug that could be picked up by drug testing when they lived together and he threatened to use that against her in a custody battle. After Britney shaved her head, she begged her mom and Kevin to test the hair from the salon however no one went to claim it. Instead, Larry and her family staged an intervention in a hotel room with the same interventionist that put Britney’s father Jamie in rehab and also worked with her brother. Britney begged for them to give her a drug test but eventually felt there was no other option but to enter a treatment program to prove to her family that she was clean and to protect herself from any unfounded accusations in a potential custody battle.

  On Britney and the press:
  

  “Britney is very clever. She’s a seasoned celebrity veteran, if anyone knows how the press spins stories, its Britney. Get it straight people, Britney doesn’t go out when her kids are home!! Come on, she has shared custody there is half the week when she’s not with her kids! The press needs to quit being so ignorant at times. If you had 50 cameras and cameramen hovering around you, inches away from you at all times, pushing and shoving, wardrobe malfunctions are bound to happen.”

  On Britney’s family:
  

  “They have issues of their own that they need to work on. They need to quit blaming Britney.” He’s totally “turned off by Britney’s family at the moment” He’s also somewhat disappointed in her mom for being so naive.”

  Here are some pictures to wrap up your Britney Spears coverage of the past weekend. The singer was spotted leaving TinselTown Club on Friday and Wockano on Sunday. The pictures of Brit in the all black outfit are from the same night she was video taped running over a photographer’s foot while she was with her “new boyfriend.” And in case you missed it, yesterday, Ali Sims was served with papers forcing her to spill the beans on Britney’s parenting skills.
  And what is going on with Britney’s recent oral fixation? We keep seeing her with suckers in her mouth. Could she be trying to quit smoking???
  
  
  
  Britney was also photographed wearing an evil eye bracelet. They are said to block ill wishes from harming you. Growing up in Astoria, a predominately Greek town, I know all about the evil eye. Growing up, every single friend of mine had one of those around their neck or wrist. I can’t explain away the tag on her boots though. Perhaps she just forgot about it.
