Jessica Simpson is the oldest child of Tina Ann and Joseph Truett “Joe” Simpson. She’s the oldest of two children: her younger sister is Ashlee Simpson. Jessica grew up in Dallas and sang in the choir of her Baptist church where Joe was a minister. She tried out for the Mickey Mouse Club (and was even put into a tryout group with Justin Timberlake) but didn’t make it. Yet Jessica got another chance at a singing career when she was introduced to the founder of a small Gospel music label, Proclaim Records.
With that fateful introduction, Jessica’s entertainment career was born. Her debut single. ‘I Wanna Love You Forever’ was a hit, and her debut album, ‘Sweet Kisses,’ went on to become double Platinum. Jessica followed up with ‘Irresistable’ and then her bestselling album ever, ‘In This Skin.’ Jessica transitioned to country music in 2008 with the album ‘Do You Know.’ She branched out from music, however, starring in one of the early reality TV shows, ‘Newlyweds: Nick and Jessica’ with her new husband, Nick Lachey. Jessica then expanded to star in movies with ‘The Dukes of Hazzard,’ ‘Employee of the Month’ and ‘Private Valentine: Blonde & Dangerous.’ As if being a singer, TV personality, and actress weren’t enough, Jessica started a clothing line, ‘The Jessica Simpson Collection.’ In 2010 Jessica’s clothing line became the top-selling celebrity clothing line ever with $270 million in sales. It’s projected to break $1 billion in sales.
Jessica married Nick Lachey in 2002. The couple collaborated on several projects, including ‘Newlyweds: Nick and Jessica’ and ‘The Nick and Jessica Variety Hour.’ The couple divorced in 2005, however. Jessica went on to briefly date John Mayer before becoming engaged to Eric Johnson in 2010. Jessica welcomed her first child, daughter Maxwell Drew, with Eric in May 2012. Jessica Simpson And Nick Lachey Settle $$$ There is nothing left to keep Jessica Simpson and Nick Lachey connected. Everything has been legally taken care of and the two can now cleanly make their break. It came at a hefty price for Jessica though. Papa Joe originally offered Nick $1.5 million dollars to finalize the divorce and Nick declined. Although the exact settlement isn’t known (yet), TMZ is reporting that Nick walked away with considerably less than half of Jessica’s earnings since the beginning of their marriage.
Sources say in the property settlement — which has not yet been filed in court — Nick will take significantly more than the $1.5 million, but considerably less than 50% of what he and Jessica earned during the marriage. Two sources in Nick’s camp made it clear to TMZ that Lachey agreed to end the dispute because he does not want to hurt anyone in a contentious court battle. (source)

Jessica Simpson Denies Dating John Mayer Rosie O’Donnell got right to the bottom of the rumored relationship between Jessica Simpson and John Mayer. Jessica FLAT OUT SAID ” I’m actually not dating John Mayer. You know, he’s my friend, I’ve known him for a couple years.”Maybe that’s why John Mayer posted this on his website a few days ago.
O’Donnell asked, “Is everything going good for you, you’re in a good place, you’re happy…’” Simpson replied, “I’m in a really good place…” O’Donnell then tried to get to the bottom of tabloid reports that she is dating Mayer, prodding her with, “You don’t want to say, but maybe?” Simpson sighed and shook her head saying, “I love it that she just goes right there….I‘m actually not dating John Mayer.” O’Donnell feigned shock saying, “You mean People magazine was wrong?” The American publication featured Simpson on the cover last week with the headline, ‘I’m in love,’ referring to Simpson’s reported new relationship with Mayer. Jessica Simpson’s Voice Cracks On Today Show Jessica Simpson’s voice wasn’t ready to perform live but she decided to give it a go anyway. She sang “I Belong To Me” pn the Today Show and was unable to complete the song without her voice giving out on her.
Jessica Simpson sang for the first time since injuring a vocal cord a week ago, but only made it through one song before her voice cracked.
Simpson croaked her way through “I Belong to Me” on NBC’s “Today” show Friday morning, but when it came time to hit a high note on “With You,” her voice cracked. She paused for a moment and said, “All right, I tried that one,” before finishing the tune.
