Jessica Simpson Admits To Relationship Abuse

How terrible! While being interviewed for Elle Magazine, Jessica Simpson admitted that she was a victim of abuse in the past. She wouldn't get into specifics, but claims it forced her to get out of the relationship as soon as she could.Â
I don’t want to talk about it, but I have definitely experienced abuse in a way that I would tell people to take their heart and run."
In one of the tracks from her upcoming album, Do You Know entitled Remember That, the star can be heard singing:
"It doesn’t matter how he hurts you / With his hands or with his words / You don’t deserve it / It ain’t worth it / Take your heart and run."
Pulling from life's experiences is always the best artistic expression. Simpson’s first country album is slated to hit shelves on 9 September.

I like Jessica, unlike most others. That is terrible... but at least she got away from whomever was doing that to her.
OK..so someone who shares everything with the public, right down to "dropping the kids in the pool" is all of a sudden a victim of abuse. Hmmm, maybe she's just trying desperatly to sell some records. It would be unfortunate if that did happen to her, but maybe more so if she didn't try to use her "celebrity" to help other victims, before now!
she is a quiet celeb you fool! look at tragelina she has every move in the public!
I say this is Bullsh*t.
It could be true and if it is, sad to say I think it might be John Mayer...just the way he talks, his comments on his blog, and the photos of her crying while they were together in Mexico.
It's not John Mayer. She talked very nice of him in this interview. She said he was a great person and he will be an amazing man for someone else, but they just weren't meant to be together.

so sad she had to go through this. i imagine if it was a public relationship, we would have known about it (if it were nick or john or whatever.) it could be someone we don't know anything about.
I am not her biggest fan but this might explain alot!! She has said nice things about John Mayer but she NEVER talks about Nick or their relationship, which ended very suddenly!! The details of their divorce were private and it came as a surprise to everyone, maybe something happened... maybe Nick isn't as nice as we all think??? But damn is he gorgeous!!!
My vote is for John. I guess it is all the stuff I have heard about him on other blogs that refers to his rather odd bedroom behavior that makes me think that. Just because you talk nice about someone doesn't mean that he can't be the biggest jerk on the planet.

Love the dress!! Anyway, I believe her and I would not be shocked to find out it was Nick. She has not spoken out about the divorce while he cried like a baby (to sell records) like he was a victim. He also in a serious relationship very quickly while Jessica was mourning. I always took him to be very jealous and bitter esp when her star rose faster than his. He always looked **** at her. Anyone that plays the Mr. Nice Guy role in public makes me wonder. They are usually the one's that are abusive (Jeckel/Hyde). I think she has a right to talk/sing about it. Maybe she feels safe now and Nick used her to sell records so it's only fair that she does it to him. He talked about their private business and divorce while she stayed mum.
She was young and innocent when she married Nick and he was really the only guy she was with. I doubt she would of tolerated it after her divorce being she had the power to leave. Nick displays a lot of the "Abuser" signs. Now I know why Vanessa's face is always bloated-Nick uses it as a punching bag!
First off, I don't believe her. But, if I were to believe her, Adam Levine would be my guess at who her "abuser" was. He did talk about her in a not-so-nice way after their encounter(s).
Some of the haters will never give this girl the benefit of the doubt. They feast off of hating on her because she left Nick Lachey. Yes, it's possible she was abused. Yes, it could of been Nick. Yes, she could be saying it to sell her album but so did Nick and so does every other artist (Madonna, Mariah Carey). If it helps other women than more power to her.
The girl is gorgeous, rich and sweet so I hope Tony is her soulmate. I'm happy for her because I think she deserves happiness and success.
3:27, Oh please, she only had a few dates with Adam, if that. She was in a relationship with the abuser. She has been silent about Nick and the divorce for a long time. Maybe she was afraid of him like most women are of an abusive man. I heard he does not treat Vanessa very well, either. He likes needy woman who are less famous than him so he can control and belittle them. Jessica took contorl and dumped him but Vanessa is desperate and he pays her bills so she tolerates him. My friend works at a club in NYC and she said Nick can be very rude and mean towards Vanessa.

It is possible for any woman in any walk of life to be a victim of relationship abuse. Many begin to suffer from such lack of self esteem that they begin to believe they actually deserve it, hence the rather dated but apt term, "battered wife syndrome". It takes a lot of strength to get out of such relationships, especially with financial constraints, if children are involved, or there are threats made to the woman about the consequences of leaving. Ms Simpson is financially independent and has no children, but that does not lessen the impact any abuse may have had on her. However, it would put her in a stronger position to leave the abuser. It takes strength to speak out about such things because many victims of abuse say they feel ashamed of their situation, as if they have contributed to it. Good luck to her. We don't need to know the name of the abuser. The fact that she left the relationship is an example to other women to be strong, believe in your own worth and that it is ok to leave.
Isn't country music all about woes and cheating? She's just adding to the stereotype country...
