Last night Amanda Bynes was arrested in New York City. News 4 New York reported that officers responded to complaints about Amanda smoking marijuana in the lobby of her apartment building. When the police arrived, they reportedly caught her throwing a bong out of the window. Officers also said Amanda’s apartment had a “heavy” odor of marijuana.

Amanda was arrested on charges of reckless endangerment, tampering with evidence and criminal possession of marijuana. She was taken to Roosevelt Hospital to undergo a psychiatric evaluation before going to the Midtown police station for processing. Amanda reportedly will spend the night in jail (Manhattan central booking) and appear in court later today.

Hopefully the judge will mandate her into a psychiatric hospital. Yeah, drugs seem to be involved, but Amanda’s problems seem more complex than just smoking pot. Of course, it could be other drugs. Regardless, hopefully this is the first step in Amanda finally getting the help she needs.
