Laura Leighton Talks About Her Return To ‘Melrose Place’

Laura Leighton, who was the evil Sydney on the original ‘Melrose Place,’ agreed to come back to the 2009 reboot. She shared some details about it (like how her presumed-dead character is even able to return to the show).

"She was a fun character the first time around. I was really happy to have the opportunity to play her again. The concept of this updated version is terrific; it’s modern, edgy and
fun to be a part of – even if I have to play the ‘old lady,’ " she adds.

"There was no hesitation. It was a no-brainer. I knew this would be something really fun to do. It wasn’t just a pitch from the producers
- it was a [fully written] script and they said, ‘Please, read it!’ I
did, and I loved it," she says.

"It’s really unique and, at the same
time, I think it captures the tone of a fun Melrose show, but in a very modern way. We get to know the characters through various flashbacks. We see parts of the missing years. Melrose Place, the building, is a character. We find out what happened since last we saw all these characters."

And how, exactly, does Sydney come back (since her character presumably is dead)?

Katie Cassidy And Laura Leighton On The Set Of ‘Melrose Place’

Katie Cassidy and Laura Leighton were spotted working hard on the set of ‘Melrose Place‘ in Beverly Hills yesterday afternoon. Katie looked adorable in a colorful summer dress and red wedges. When asked if she’d received any advice from Heather Locklear on playing her Ella character, Katie said

“No, I haven’t spoken to Heather, but she is a wonderful actress and my character is definitely exploring her sexuality. I have no idea what’s to come, but I’m sure it’s going to be crazy and fun.”

It’ll be interesting to see how this series will turn out and if it’ll last. Anyone excited for the Fall premiere?

Laura Leighton’s Sydney Will Return To New Melrose Place

I can already hear old Melrose Place viewers: but Sydney Andrews was hit by a car and killed in a car accident on her wedding day!How can Laura Leighton come back as Sydney in the new Melrose Place?

‘It was a near-fatal accident. You never actually saw her dead,’ says a
source familiar with the show, referring to what looked like Sydney’s
demise in the original Melrose Place."

Such is life on a soap opera

Sydney will be the landlord of Melrose Place (the apartment complex).

The cast is reportedly complete and includes the following: Katie Cassidy as Ella, Jessica Lucas as Riley, Ashlee Simpson-Wentz as Violet, Michael Rady as Jonah, Colin Egglesfield as Auggie, Shaun Sipos as David, and Stephanie Jacobson as Lauren.
